2011 was an interesting racing year for us. Tranquilo’s racing success led to invitations to race on other yachts. The 43 foot “D-Trip”, one of our competitors, invited 3 of our racing crewmembers to race the prestigious Antigua Sailing Week in April of 2011 with them. We helped them achieve a 2nd place finish after losing our chance of being 1st due to failure of the steering system.
We have had some bad luck on the crossing to Bonaire and had to battle a small electrical fire off the coast of Curacao in the engine room resulting in a burned out starter motor.
Recently the Rembrandt Regatta Aruba was held, a two day racing event where 3 races were sailed. For the first time after many years of winning in the cruising class, the Tranquilo decided to go sail the racing class instead. For not being an all-out racing sailboat, we held our own in this class and are very happy with our results.
Our new website launched May 2009.
The Tranquilo is raced extensively several times a year in Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao testing boat and equipment time and time again by going offshore sailing, and to keep up with proper yachting and offshore safety standards.
